ABOUT INDIA’S INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT TO UNITE NATIONS

Founded in: 2011/12

Founded by: Rishabh Shah

Vision: To unite the world by spreading the idea of India through debates, dialogues, and conferences, thereby, enabling tomorrow’s leaders worldwide to learn about India today. To create leaders without creating noise.

Advisory Board members: Mr. Ajay Piramal, Mr. Deepak Parekh, Mr. Nadir Godrej, Former Chiefs of Armed Forces - Gen VP Malik, Admiral RK Dhowan, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, AR Rahman, PT Usha, amongst others.

Overall Team: Over the last 13 years, 26,000+ students aged 15-22 have been a part of the organization. After 22 years of age, we request students to leave to pursue different things. Many of those who worked with the organization have become elected members of government, actors, business leaders, chefs, and civil servants, among other disciplines.

Overall Impact: 5 crore students aged 13-19 were impacted via concourses in 220 cities and 35 countries.

Previous speakers: 32 Heads of Nations, Hollywood and Bollywood luminaries, Academy Award Winners, and Nobel Laureates, among 30,000+ others.

Method: The organization organizes 3-4 day concourses initially at a school level in 100,000+ institutes. Most of these institutions are now self enabled - however, we support 7,000-8,000 schools every year in organising this program. Winners from these schools then congregate in 220 cities and 35 countries, culminating in a finale in Mumbai/UN HQ-New York. In these 3 - 4 day events the inaugural ceremony has speakers talk about their life experiences interspersed by Indian music and song. The students learn yoga in the mornings, followed by broken up into different groups debating on glocal issues of relevance from the Indian lens. The evenings have speaker sessions. Post the event the students are given a social task like planting a tree. This is the pattern for the 3-4 day events which is the principle work of the organisation. Additionally, I.I.M.U.N. runs a magazine, leadership tours, online leadership series and social impact activities.
